I worked most of yesterday on our business proposal for our ministry and finally completed the first draft. A lot of work is still needed on it, but at least now it’s at the stage where I can start sharing it with others who have more expertise in this area and start getting feedback.
Natalie Grant has a new song out right now called “So You Want To Change the World…What are You Waiting For?” It’s been in my head for the last several days. I realized shortly after we got back from our Thanksgiving family vacation that as much as I talk about optimism, I have had a really bad attitude lately! It’s been very easy to pick out and gripe about what hasn’t been going right, instead of focusing on what has.
We’re at the decisive point with AGreaterFreedom.com to keep swimming toward the deep end or turn around and head back to the shallow. Of course, to keep swimming means we’re going to have to paddle harder and there may not be any surface to stand on for awhile. It may get tiring; it may use every last bit of strength we have, but I’m determined to keep going as long as I feel God cheering us on. Turning back just isn’t an option.
The decision to keep going has been made a little easier with the people God has put in my life. In addition to my husband and family, He has brought others into the picture at just the right moments when I needed support or encouragement. One day soon I hope I can talk about these dear people and share with you the gifts and the special qualities they are bringing to this new ministry.
I honestly never envisioned A Greater Freedom Communications becoming a ministry, but that’s the vision we now have for it. It’s a two-prong approach and I’m excited to see what the next year is like and how much of that vision we will accomplish.
Today in Sunday School, we talked about Philip who had the “chance” meeting with the Ethiopian on the road and led him to Christ. Our teacher shared with us a fact I’ve heard before but had forgotten. If you were to lead just one person to Christ this year, and together, each of you led one person to Christ next year, and the chain continued and wasn’t broken – theoretically, a million people or more could be saved in 30 years. But it starts with one person. One person makes the difference.
You know, a lot of those who serve in our Armed Forces are serving because they too want to change the world. They want to make a difference. But it’s challenging, it’s grueling, and it’s demanding both on our military and their families. But is it worth it? Yes. And each one who serves has a part to play; each one who signs up and is counted as part of the United States military has the opportunity and the duty to make a difference. Each one.
So that brings me back to what we’re doing at A Greater Freedom. Do I want to change the world? Absolutely. And there’s no time like the present. And if I can help make a difference for one person by encouraging them through a story to get out and volunteer, or remind someone who’s discouraged Who they can turn to for help, then we’re helping make a difference. One person at a time. But it starts with you. And me.
If you’d like to help be a part of what we’re doing at A Greater Freedom, contact me at sara at agreaterfreedom dot com. I’d love to hear from you!
God bless and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
