For the last year or more, I’ve refrained from the political fray. With my husband gearing up to go to war as a reservist, I decided it was more important to stay inside, focusing on issues of military family support and how to help my own family, rather than stepping out into the political storm.

But now that Cliff is over there, working for something that so many, including our leadership in Congress, are condemning, it’s time to speak up. So I submitted a column to my city’s paper and a military web site and it’s running in both. Not crazy about the headlines, particularly the Tennessean’s – neither are what I submitted with, but they do what they must to gain readership.

As for me, I have a feeling there will be many more columns after this one.
