Hey everyone,
Well, we are in day 3 of this year’s Annual Training where my husband gets to go do his military thing and I stay here and do everything else. It’s usually not such a big deal because I know he is working hard where he is, but he made the mistake of calling me yesterday and telling me their schedule. They work from 9 to 11 a.m. They have two hours for lunch. Then they come back and work from 1 to 2:30. That is a whopping total of 3 1/2 hours a day. To which they are then free to do whatever. Go back to the hotel. Take naps. Work out. Go window shopping. See a movie.
Yeah.
Anyway, I had a great blog all ready to write yesterday but I got sidetracked with other things as I’m single-momming it right now. Hope to get to it soon.
I did want to let any of you who are in the Nashville area know about a speaking event I’m doing in September. The Nashville chapter of Women in Christian Media asked me a couple of months ago if I would be willing to be their keynote speaker for their fall meeting which is on Sept. 11 this year. I was honored that they would ask and they’ve asked me to speak on the topic “Patriot’s Day. Celebrating and Praying for Those Who Serve.”
I’ll be sharing stories of my experiences overseas as I was working on articles and then the book A Greater Freedom that I did with Oliver North. I’ll also talk about what we’re doing with Wives of Faith and the importance of praying for our military. The regional office of National Day of Prayer is the sponsor for the evening. Should be a great night!
If you’d like to come, they are taking registrations now and you don’t have to be a member to attend.
Here’s all the info! I’d love to see some familiar faces!

Hello Sara,
I just had to laugh at your hubby’s AT schedule. I remember years ago, my hubby went to Hawaii for 3 wks of AT, because apparently it was too expensive for the Navy to only send them there for two weeks. So they spent three weeks renovating barracks in Honolulu and worked from 7am – Noon every day and then were free the rest of the day. Tough job,
During that time, my daughter ended up really sick, I was working and doing the single mom thing too, and hubby calls home to tell me about how he was swimming with giant turtles that day before their luau that night. Yeah, I still don’t let him live that one down! LOL
So my sympathies are with you!
Hi Sara — I work with Stephanie Huffman for the Nashville chapter of Women in Christian Media. We are so excited about your coming and have been praying about your ministry.
