I’ve been away from the blog for a while now…too many other things to tend to, but I do appreciate the emails I’ve gotten from readers letting me know that you like my blog – it gave me a chuckle considering I haven’t written in the last month, but nevertheless, I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed my previous posts. Hope you stay with me!

I don’t know how you’re doing in the current times we’re living in, but as a talk radio listener, I am more than just a little tired of “the world is coming to an end as we know it” conversation that has been going on for more than the last couple of months.

It’s true that the situation in our country is grim, that the politicians in Washington don’t have the answer and it remains very unclear that the recent legislation and the bill that’s being signed into law today to stimulate the economy will actually work.

If you’re a military family, while you have somewhat of an assurance that you still have a job, it’s hazy at best what your future will look like in the coming years. Will there continue to be frequent deployments or not? Will it be Iraq or Afghanistan? Will things change for the better or for the worse?

None of us know the answers to any of these questions, but we do know what the Bible says and in those divinely inspired words, there is hope. There are promises that God has made that we can put our hope in as well as our trust.

Recently, I have felt a huge need for some wisdom. Life is speeding along like a bullet train and I’m not entirely sure that I’m always doing the right thing at the right time. I’ve started reading the book of Proverbs because it does have such practical, wise advice that helps you think.

So, starting this week, hopefully several times each week, I will offer “A Promise and a Proverb,” a promise God offers in His Word that we can apply in our lives today, and a proverb that we can always hold onto. There may be times I offer more in the format of a devotional, but some days it may just be the scriptures, and after all, isn’t that enough anyway?

Hope this new feature ministers to you and reminds you that as bleak as life may seem sometimes, there is always the wisdom and promises of God to hold on to. Feel free to comment if the verses below speak to you or remind you of how God has shown you His promises at a crucial time in your own life.

A Promise:
“This is God’s Word on the subject: “….I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen.

When you come looking for me, you’ll find me.

Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” (Jeremiah 29:10-13, The Message).

A Proverb:

“It’s stupid to try to get something for nothing, or run up huge bills you can never pay.” (Proverbs 17:18, The Message)
