Here’s a good story I ran across today on one Army Reserve unit is using You Tube and other social media tools to reach a wider audience.

Fort Snelling Army Reserve program first on YouTube

When I was in Iraq in 2003, my photographer and I stayed with an Army Reserve MPAD (Mobile Public Affairs Detachment) unit in the Greeen Zone area of Baghdad, and those guys worked hard to bring the stories of what was happening on the ground to not just the troops but to the nation as a whole. I heard quite a bit about their frustrations that so many of the mainstream media ignored their reporting, and yet much of what they reported was the good of what was happening which was so often missed by the MSM.

I’m glad to see more use being made. Hopefully it will bring more awareness and the divide between civilians and our military will decrease a bit.

Here’s the You Tube channel for the Army Reserve video news magazine, The Sight Picture.

I got to looking through some of the episodes, and found this one that was focused primarily on kids of Army Reservists – some really good information you may want to know about, including a special FREE camp that Army Reserve kids can participate in. Watch toward the end for the special segment where the kids taste test MRES – SO FUNNY!
