We interrupt this sunny weekend to write a quick post about something fun our family is going to try this summer. I thought you might also be able to use this idea if you’re already wondering how you can get some good family time in without breaking the bank and before you hear “Mom, I’m bored!” one more time! :)

Since Cliff and I will both be at home this summer, hopefully working as much as we can, I knew that we needed to plan in some fun time with Caleb. So, we came up with “Fun Fridays!”

Together, the three of us made a list of ten fun things to do as a family – some of these are free, and some will cost a little.

Our list (in no particular order) -

Go to the zoo.
Go to the science center.
Go to the doggie park.
Go to the kids park.
Go camping.
Play board games.
Tour the Purity Dairy ice cream plant (they’re local and it’s a free tour!)
Hike up a mountain.
Go bowling.
Go to the space museum in Huntsville.
Ride on the Duck Boat.

Since there are roughly ten weeks of summer before school starts back, we will do one thing each week. And to add a little excitement to it, we will DRAW one fun thing each Monday to do the following Friday so we can have time to look forward to it (and plan for it if necessary).

I used one of the jars we have for our deployment marbles to hold our ten Fun Friday slips.

If your family does anything like this, I’d love to hear about it! Happy summer fun!
