As open and personal social media can be, there are just some things that can’t be said. Like announcing the reason you haven’t blogged since the beginning of the year is because you’re determined to get a bunch of things checked off your to-do list before you leave the country for a week.
And that’s where I was all of last week – out of the country – on a big boat bound for the Bahamas. It was a vacation we’d planned for more than a year with my husband’s entire family and though it came at a semi-inconvenient time – the week before my book’s official release – it also came at a much needed time in terms of taking a rest. I had been going almost non-stop for the last month, finishing up the group and individual study guides for GOD Strong, starting our Wives of Faith group at my church (we have a weekly Thursday morning Bible study and a monthly Wednesday night meeting that’s this week), getting details nailed down for the street team and putting together at least one more book proposal for my agent to start pitching and having the unexpected blessing of my friend Leanne offer to serve as my booking coordinator and handle the speaking requests that are starting to come in!
The cruise was wonderful – I have lots of pictures I should post, but honestly, I’m not sure when I will find the time. We stopped at Key West, Freeport and Nassau. I ate WAY too much. Had the best crab cake sandwich in Key West, and tried duck and escargot on the ship. I had planned on doing a lot of reading, sleeping, relaxing in the sun. But even the Bahamas are a little cooler in February. So instead I did a lot of playing, laughing and walking with my sweet husband and son, along with my sister-in-law and her family and my husband’s parents.
Now I’m back, with yet another to-do list filling up my black notebook. Meeting this week with a publisher to discuss a proposal for a Bible study that focuses specifically on how to prepare spiritually for deployment. Getting ready to head out of town next week for a television appearance on the Harvest Show. Planning this week’s Wives of Faith meetings.
But I also hope to blog a lot more. So keep checking back. Lots in store!
