You are here: Home > Faith > Be Bold

This devotional was in my in-box this morning.

“The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.” -Proverbs 28:1

Those who don’t follow God often live fear-based lives. With nothing other than themselves to depend on, who can blame them? If you don’t trust God, it’s probably a sign of sanity to be fearful. In contrast, the godly are bold. They feel they can do anything; they aren’t afraid to try—and fail—at things. They don’t fear unreal things; nor do they run away from problems, but boldly look for ways to solve them. These are two very distinct approaches, based on underlying beliefs and overall orientation toward God—with very different emotional outcomes.

With everything I have going on right now, this is a really good reminder. How often do we let fear dictate our choices? But if we know God, we don’t have to fear….

I have often said, and I’ve heard other wives say, that I don’t know how I could be a military wife, aka-go through a deployment, without having God in my life. Fear is hard enough to deal with, but to not have God to turn to would be terrifying. We are looking at some major challenges this summer in our family and with work projects and other things going on, and it can be completely overwhelming when I forget to remember that God is in control.

God is in control. We can be bold for His sake. Just like a female lion is bold and strong, so can we be the same way because God is there. And no matter what happens, He doesn’t leave.

Be bold today. Be confident. Confident that whatever situation you must tackle today, that God will give you the abilities and know-how and sticktuitiveness to get it done.
