God Strong

GOD Strong: A Military Wife’s Spiritual Survival Guide

Book Description: Currently, more than one million military wives care for their families and their homes, often while their husbands are deployed out of state or overseas for months at a time. These women can experience a roller coaster of emotions including disappointment, loneliness, and fear.

Sara Horn, the wife of a navy reservist, understands the challenges these women face. She knows how to talk about faith and spiritual truths through the filter of military life. In her encouraging book, Horn shares her personal stories, as well as wisdom and anecdotes of other wives from all branches of service. She reminds readers that: • God is in control. • You can have joy, no matter what. • Superwomen get grace, too. • God knows where you hurt. Horn’s reliance on Scripture and confidence in God’s comfort during difficult times will remind military wives they don’t have to be an army of one when they are God Strong.

This book released in February 2010. Visit Zondervan’s web site for more information.

What Readers are Saying

“This book is amazingly helpful! It really makes you think about things and evaluate your life and how you handle certain situations. I would definitely say it is a must whether the hubby is deployed or not! ” ~ Kassi

“My husband is currently serving in Iraq and I am currently running low on strength and faith. This book has already begun to change my outlook on what it means to be strong and what it means to be a Woman of God (and Military Wife). I suggest that any military wife currently going through or about to go through a deployment should read this book!” ~Jess

“As a former military wife and author myself, I have read dozens of books for military wives. This one is solid. Sara speaks from her own experiences, but she consistently brings readers back to the truth and comfort found in Scripture.” ~ Jocelyn Green, author of Faith Deployed

“During seasons of stress and struggle, the ladies at our local military installation have found hope and encouragement from God Strong. There is something so reassuring to hear another military wife share stories of faith and strategies for relying on God instead of trying to do it all ourselves.” ~ Casey Pitts

“This book is well written with truth about how a military life really is. I could relate to the authors views easily, and I was also inspired by her faith, and how she has had ups and downs in her walk. It is encouraging to see how our trials make us stronger in our faith.” ~ C. Schwartz

Our PWOC at Lackland AFB is looking to purchase 10 copies of the Group discussion guide which I saw on the website a short while ago and can no longer find. Can you tell me how I can get at least one copy? Thank you!

Dear Sarah! I’m so excited–we have started a ministry at our church to reach out and support the families of the deployed here in our community near Whiteman AFB, Knob Noster Mo. I have started reading your book and would like to present it as a Book Club book for these special people. Do you have a discussion guide for sale now? I’ve been looking for it but have not been able to find it. Thank you so much for your help! We are blessed to be blessing others with your help! Hugs!

I would love a copy also of your discussion guide for “God Strong.” I will be leading a small group study of this book in the fall. I done that in the past but just recently learned you have a discussion guide for it also. Thank you so much for your help!

Karen, did you receive any reply? I’d like to choose this as one of our bible studies for the fall if we can also get the discussion guide. Thanks!

Kali, sorry that I’m just now seeing your question. I never did get a reply from Sara Horn. However, our group study coordinator told me you can easily Google the discussion guide and download it from there. We are currently doing this study this fall [I lead it back in 2011 also w/o the discussion guide]. I highly recommend this study!
