AGreaterFreedom.com – a faith-based military news site that reports the positive stories of what is happening in Iraq and the Global War on Terror as well as stories of what God is doing in the lives of service members and their families.

Wivesoffaith.org - Wives of Faith is a new group that exists for the purpose of connecting all military wives including active, retired, reserve, and guard, who are looking for encouragement and friendships with others sharing similar life experiences. Founded in Nashville, but open to starting chapters in other cities.

Military.com - The largest military and veteran membership organization which connects service members, military families and veterans to all the benefits of service — government benefits, scholarships, discounts, lifelong friends, mentors, great stories of military life or missions, and much more. I visit the forums often to talk and relate with other military wives dealing with deployment.

AmericaSupportsYou.mil – A great site that provides dozens of links to grassroots organizations that support our military and their families in a variety of ways. If you are looking for ways to get involved or to support our troops, this is the first site you should visit.

Department of Defense – Stories of what our military is doing from the front lines. These are stories often missed by mainstream media.

Centcom.mil - Reports the success stories of U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as around the world.

Soldiers Angels - This is a fantastic organization that has multiple levels of organizations under it – everything from groups who make cookies for the troops to those who make quilts for the wounded. Offers a ton of ways to show your support.

Adopt-a-Chaplain - This is a great organization that supports our chaplains in the field who in turn support the troops.

DesignsOnDemand.com is an online printing company. They make custom dog tags (great for Dad and kids) and they do some other great projects for military as well. Check them out!

For Writers:

BibleGateway.com – need quick access to a verse or a scripture passage? This is one site I use constantly.

SermonCentral.com – offers a wide variety of submitted illustrations that I use when I need an illustration or analogy or even just some quick inspiration to get me thinking during a project (subscription-based).

Thinkmap Visual Thesaurus – this is a fun site when you’re looking for another word to use in place of the one you have (subscription-based).

For Breaking News:

FoxNews.com - my favorite cable news channel.

DrudgeReport.com – love him or hate him, Matt Drudge does a great job of bringing all of the most important headlines together for easy access and he literally paved the way in cyberspace for every other blogger out there.

Just For Fun:

A Moment’s Peace is my favorite spa here in Nashville where I will usually treat myself to a relaxing facial or massage after wrapping up a book project. A girl’s gotta relax sometime!

Ann Taylor’s Loft and Macy’s - My favorite stores to shop (though not often enough!) . Macy’s has great sales when you’re on a military family budget – the last time I shopped there, I found long-sleeved shirts and sweaters for less than $6 each!

The Adventure Science Center in Nashville is one of my little boy’s favorite places to go when we have time to play. This summer, we’ll also be checking out the Nashville Zoo – they have new giraffes!

MSN.com (Games section) – yes, my husband and I have been known to play some mean games of FlipWords, Pat Sajak’s Lucky Letters and TextTwist together, and I’m sorry to say that even though I’m the writer in the family, he often is better than me. (Thank goodness we play as a team!)
